HALIFAX – Unionized workers with Bell Aliant have ratified a new four-year collective agreement.
Members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada Atlantic Communications Council (CEPACC) ratified the deal, which was reached on June 26. They will get raises of 2.0% in each of the first two years and 1.75% in each of the last two years.
“We believe this agreement balances the needs of our employees, our company and our customers in today’s highly competitive environment and we are extremely pleased that the proposed agreement has now been accepted by our employees,” said Frank Fagan, Chief Operating Officer of Bell Aliant.
“This gives our members four years of stability, without making concessions, in what promises to be a tumultuous period in the telecommunications industry in Canada,” said Penny Fawcett, Chairperson of CEPACC.
CEPACC represents more than 3700 employees of Bell Aliant in all the Atlantic provinces. Its members work in all areas of the company, including network, construction, data, customer service, operator services, and installation and repair for residential and business customers.
The agreement runs from Dec. 31 this year to Dec. 31, 2011.
