LUNENBURG, NS – Bell Aliant is investing $750,000 to bring its fibre-to-the home (FTTH) network to approximately 1,500 homes and businesses in the Town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. One of only 16 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Canada, Lunenburg is a community that thrives on innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

FibreOP meets those demands with social TV apps, great on-demand content and the fastest Internet download and upload speeds in the market.”
Bell Aliant says it is working closely with the Town of Lunenburg to ensure that the build fits within the current community landscape.
In May 2010, Bell Aliant first announced FibreOP’s expansion into Nova Scotia with a $15-million investment to bring it over to 30,000 homes and businesses in the Sydney area. Since then, Bell Aliant has brought its network to customers in Halifax, Truro, New Glasgow, Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth, Bridgewater, Digby and Antigonish.
The FibreOP network offers Internet download speeds of up to 250 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 30 Mbps, the fastest available in Atlantic Canada claims Bell Aliant. FibreOP also offers more than 100 HD channels, the most HD On Demand, Whole Home PVR and Twitter and Facebook apps adds the company.
Bell Aliant was the first in Canada to cover an entire city with fibre-to-the-home. By the end of 2012, the company will have invested approximately half a billion dollars to extend fibre-optic technology to approximately 650,000 homes and businesses in its territory.
