TORONTO – Comedic actress Samantha Bee has been named the recipient of the 2011 Crystal Award for International Achievement by Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T).
The International Achievement award is presented to a Canadian woman working in screen-based media for her significant and well-recognized body of work in Canada and abroad.
Known as the hilariously off-kilter most senior correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Bee will receive the accolade at the Crystal Awards Gala Luncheon on December 5 in her hometown, Toronto.
“WIFT-T is thrilled to present Samantha with the International Achievement Award,” said executive director Heather Webb, in the announcement. “She consistently delights audiences through her work on The Daily Show and has brought her talents to numerous roles in television and film. We look forward to welcoming Samantha back to Toronto.”
