TORONTO – Corus Radio’s Deborah Beatty and Jeff Woods were named to new interactive roles by the company this week.
Beatty was promoted to general manager, Corus Radio interactive group and Woods to programming and content director for the group.
In her new position, Beatty will be responsible for overall operations and strategy of Interactive programming, sales and operations for all Corus radio stations. Beatty takes on this new role in September, and she will report directly to John Hayes, president, Corus Radio. She had previously been v-p interactive for Corus Entertainment.
“Deborah Beatty brings invaluable experience and leadership to the Radio Interactive Group,” said Hayes, in a release. “Corus is currently the leader in the Canadian radio web space and, under Deborah’s leadership, we’re confident we can build on this position. This new position reflects Corus Radio’s commitment to continue to offer outstanding web content.”
Reporting to Beatty, Woods will work with general managers and program directors across the radio division to develop and implement content that complements the local station and extends the relationship with the audience into new media.
In his previous roles with Corus, Woods focused on creating compelling radio for the audiences of three specific and unique Corus Radio stations: Classic Rock 101 Vancouver, 99.3 The Fox Vancouver and Q107 Toronto. Woods’ new position is effective July 4 and he will continue to host his Legends of Classic Rock program, as syndicated across the country by Corus’ Deep Sky.
“Jeff Woods is one of the pre-eminent program directors in Canada,” said Hayes. “With this appointment he takes on a position of national scope in which he can help build content of all kinds: music, games, news and information, sports, editorial commentary and more.”
