
MONTREAL – BCE has elevated Mirko Bibic to chief operating officer for BCE Inc. and Bell Canada, and named Wade Oosterman as vice chair of BCE and Bell Canada.
Bibic (pictured right) will now lead the company's largest customer-facing business units, including Bell Mobility, Bell Residential and Small Business, and Bell Business Markets. He will also continue to oversee all legal and regulatory strategy for both BCE and the Bell group of companies.
In his previous role as EVP of Corporate Development, Bibic has overseen strategic M&A transactions including Bell’s acquisition of Astral Media and Manitoba Telecom Services, as well as the company’s participation in multiple wireless spectrum auctions.
"Mirko is a leader who delivers results, and he has played a critical role in Bell's successful transformation into Canada's broadband communications leader over the last decade," said George Cope, president and CEO of BCE and Bell Canada, in Thursday’s announcement. "As our COO, Mirko will apply his comprehensive understanding of Bell's business and competitive landscape to drive further innovation and growth in our broadband wireless, Internet, TV and business communications services."
Bell also named Wade Oosterman (pictured below) as vice chair of BCE and Bell Canada which will see him assume a senior advisory and oversight role on the Bell executive team, in addition to his existing leadership of Bell Media as group president and his role as Bell's chief brand officer.
