The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) announced last week BBDO Canada has agreed to work exclusively with ACTRA performers for all of the advertising agency’s commercial projects.
“Since the lockout of almost three years ago, your union has continued to find ways to bring work back to ACTRA members,” said Marie Kelly, ACTRA national executive director and chief negotiator, in a video message to the union’s members. “We want to thank BBDO for recognizing the value of ACTRA performers and agreeing to partner with ACTRA exclusively for its commercials.”
The agreement with BBDO Canada “means very soon you’ll be seeing audition calls for their clients,” Kelly added.
One of Canada’s larger ad agencies, BBDO Canada is headquartered in Toronto with an office in Montreal. Its client partners include Esso, OLG, RBC and Sobeys, among several others.
“BBDO Canada joins a growing list of agencies that recognize the value of working with the best performers in Canada — ACTRA performers,” ACTRA said in a press release. “Great brands are making the right choice by creating Canadian commercials featuring ACTRA performers.”
ACTRA represents the interests of more than 30,000 professional performers working in recorded media in Canada.
