OTTAWA – John Barrack, executive vice-president of the Canadian Media Production Association has left the organization, effective immediately, Cartt.ca has learned. A lawyer by training, Barrack (pictured) had been with the national trade association which represents over 400 independent film, television and new media producers (until recently, it was the CFTPA) since 1999 – and was thought by some to be next in line for the CEO’s. Current CEO Norm Bolen announced earlier this year he is stepping down from that role in June. With Bolen soon to leave, Barrack’s departure will leave a large hole atop the CMPA.
