LONDON – The Banff World Television Festival has announced the nominees for the 29th annual Banff World Television Awards from the High Commission of Canada in London, England. "The Banff World Television Awards (Rockies) are among the world’s most coveted television awards. The high number of entries from the more than 44 countries and territories, representing a 15% increase from last year, proves the Award’s continued growth and recognition within our international television community," commented Jennifer Harkness, executive director of the Banff World Television Festival.
Canwest presents the Banff World Television Awards Show, at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, in Banff, Alberta, Canada, on Monday, June 9, 2008, where the award winners will be announced.
New program categories at this year’s Rockies include Environmental Programs and Social and& Humanitarian Programs to address the larger social and humanitarian issues in the world today. The U.K. earned the highest number of nominees with Canada and the U.S. a close second. Australia and Germany are strong contenders across a variety of categories as well.
