Banff adds ‘Kids and Animation’ series to lineup


TORONTO – The Banff World Television Festival has added a ‘Kids and Animation’ series to its agenda, which will feature top television program creators, broadcasters and executives in the children’s and animation industries.

The series is designed to address "new programming formats along with the current trends and issues facing the youth focused and animated television industries", the announcement read.

“We developed the Kids and Animation series out of our continuing effort to create innovative festival programming together with more opportunities for building new business relationships,” said Peter Vamos, Banff’s executive director, in the announcement. “We are proud to launch this new series led by some of the best in the industry of animation and children’s television programming.”

Industry leaders Stuart Snyder, president and COO of animation, young adults and kids media for Turner Broadcasting System, and Toper Taylor, president and COO of Cookie Jar Entertainment have confirmed their attendance for the series, as have Bronwen O’Keefe, vice president of original programming for Nickelodeon and Teenick, and Frank Saperstein, senior vice president of animation and children’s programming of E1 Entertainment.

The 30th edition of the Banff World Television Festival takes place at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, AB from June 7–10, 2009.
