Bachman and Cummings headline CAB Future Summit entertainment

OTTAWA – Legendary Canadian rockers Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings will headline a stellar lineup of musical talent at The Future Summit, the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ 2005 Annual Convention in Winnipeg next week.

This year’s convention will also feature some of Canada’s rising musical talents.

Bachman and Cummings will perform at the Gold Ribbon Awards Gala on Tuesday, November 8, where they will be inducted as this year’s CAB Broadcast Hall of Fame Music Inductees.

On Monday, November 7th, acclaimed Winnipeg vocal group Madrigaïa will perform at the Convention’s opening ceremonies, while Manitoba jazz artist Jodie Borle appears at the 2005 CAB Hall of Fame Luncheon.

On Tuesday November 8th, 2005 Juno nominees Nathan kick off the Gold Ribbon Awards Breakfast. Later that day, the amazing Jully Black, nominated for four Juno Awards and four MuchMusic Video Awards, will perform at the Gold Ribbon Awards Luncheon.

Also at the Gold Ribbon Awards Gala on Tuesday November 8th, the evening begins with Doc Walker, winners of both the Canadian Country Music Association Group of the Year and West Coast Music Awards’ Entertainer of the Year awards in 2004. Later that evening, Juno Award and Canadian Aboriginal Music Award winners Eagle and Hawk, a leading sound in contemporary Aboriginal music, will also perform.

All performances at The Future Summit will take place at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

All of the talented emerging artists named above have been the beneficiaries of support from the Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records (FACTOR), a public-private partnership between Canada’s private radio broadcasters and the Government of Canada. During the CAB Convention, FACTOR will host a reception to honour Canada’s private radio broadcasters and recognize the $33.5 million in funding to support Canadian talent development. Winnipeg artist Kyle Riabko, also a FACTOR beneficiary, will perform at the FACTOR reception.

Private radio broadcasters also directly support Canadian talent development through the RadioStarmaker Fund and the Fonds RadioStar, providing our up-and-coming musical acts with an additional $29.8 million of financial support since 1998.
