TORONTO — The Ontario Association of Broadcasters (OAB) announced broadcasting industry expert and author Tom Goodwin (pictured) will deliver a morning keynote address at the OAB’s Connection 2019 conference, scheduled for November 7 at the Marriott Toronto Airport Hotel.
Goodwin’s keynote topic will be “The Future of Broadcasting in the Post Digital Age.” Goodwin is the executive vice-president and head of innovation for Zenith Media, and the author of Digital Darwinism. He has been voted as the #1 Voice in Marketing on LinkedIn, four times, with more than 700,000 followers. Business Insider named him one of 30 people to follow on Twitter, and Fast Company called him a “must-follow”.
“‘We see the future through the rear-view mirror’ explains how for history we’ve taken older media and pulled it through a more modern frame. The first TV shows were plays that were filmed, the first radio shows were audio newspapers. We are now in an era where we’ve adapted what we made from the pre-digital age. The future is here for the taking, for companies that rethink and rebuild fresh for the digital world,” Goodwin says.
At Zenith Media, Goodwin’s role is to understand new technology, behaviours and platforms, and ideate and implement solutions for clients that take advantage of these new opportunities. An industry provocateur, keynote speaker and commentator on the future of advertising, media and business, Goodwin has been quoted in The Economist and The New York Times. He has contributed to The Guardian, TechCrunch, Forbes, Ad Age, Adweek, Marketing Week, The Drum, Inc., Digiday, Quartz, British GQ, and the World Economic Forum, among other outlets. He is a frequent guest on global news television shows, such as Israel’s i24News channel, commenting on technology and the future of business.
The OAB’s 10th annual Connection conference will feature other engaging speakers, the ever-popular Sales Session, and a special Production Super Session this year.
