Author Don Yaeger to keynote SCTE Cable-Tec Expo luncheon


EXTON, PA – Don Yaeger, acclaimed writer, business leader and motivational speaker, will be the featured speaker when the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) hosts its Annual Luncheon Wednesday, Oct. 17 at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Orlando.

Yaeger, a longtime associate editor with Sports Illustrated and a seven-time New York Times best-selling author, will speak on success and achievement during the luncheon, which is scheduled for noon.  Drawing on the careers of such notable figures as John Wooden and Shaquille O’Neal, Yaeger will discuss characteristics and actions that drive career accomplishments.

Prior to Yaeger’s remarks, SCTE will present the Member of the Year and Women in Technology Awards and will recognize members who are being inducted into the SCTE Hall of Fame. Luncheon tickets are included with all full-conference Expo registrations.

The luncheon will follow the Opening General Session that will include a keynote conversation between entrepreneur and inventor Dean Kamen and Time Warner Cable Executive Vice President and CTO Mike LaJoie, as well as panel discussions addressing technology and operations, the needs of Tier 2/3 operators and the shared vision of NCTA, CableLabs and SCTE.

“Don Yaeger has spent much of his life studying individuals who have achieved greatness in athletic and other arenas,” said Cathy Oakes, senior vice president, operations for SCTE. “His ability to provide actionable examples of success-oriented behavior will align well with industry’s need to execute on the challenges and opportunities outlined in the Opening General Session.”

Yaeger has authored books that have sold more than 2 million copies and delivers nearly 100 presentations each year.  On major television interview programs and with audiences ranging from Fortune 25 companies to cancer survivor groups, he speaks on the secrets that lead to achieving greatness, as well as his own personal battle with cancer.
