MONTREAL – Astral Media’s second annual National Day of Caring for Kids radiothon raised over $7 million in support of 20 children’s hospitals and health care facilities across the country Thursday.
Radio hosts from more than 50 English-language stations in 30 cities broadcast live from partner hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the day, hosting guests ranging from hospital staff, to child patients and their parents.
“Yesterday, tens of thousands of listeners from all regions of the country have spoken with their heart”, said Jacques Parisien, group president of Astral Media Radio and Astral Media Outdoor, in a statement Friday. “The generosity and solidarity that we have witnessed on the airwaves of 50 of our radio stations bring a lot of hope to sick kids and their families. On behalf of Astral’s employees involved, I wish to extent our since gratitude to all our listeners for this impressive wave of generosity.”
