Astral’s Family Channel tackles bullying with Toronto rally

TORONTO – Astral’s Family Channel is celebrating its 10th annual Bullying Awareness Week with a campaign encouraging Canadian students to Join the Stand UP! Network and stop bullying in their communities. From November 12 to 18, Family will promote bullying prevention with a week of special programming, the release of an original song, a dedicated website and a student rally on October 25 in Toronto. Family.ca is now accepting entries from students and classes wishing to attend the rally.

While in past years Family has gone into communities to spread the Stand UP! message, this year the channel will bring together students together in Toronto to promote unity against bullying.

The channel has commissioned an original song titled "Stand UP! Make Some Noise" that encourages bullying bystanders to intervene when they witness bullying. The song will be available on Family.ca beginning November 1, with a music video debuting November 12 and airing on Family Channel throughout Bullying Awareness Week.

"It's an incredible achievement to be marking ten years of bullying awareness initiatives at Family Channel and we appreciate all of the support we've received from our partners at PREVNet, Family stars and the more than 50 school communities we've visited," said Joe Tedesco, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Astral Kids.
