Service to be available in over 350 communities in two years

REGINA – SaskTel rolled out its new maxTV Stream IPTV platform on Wednesday, offering users access to live television, video on demand content (VoD), plus OTT content from Netflix and YouTube.

Using the MediaFirst platform like SaskTel's MaxTV, the company said that maxTV Stream comes pre-loaded with 55 channels, VoD, and features such as restart from up to 72 hours in the past, Bluetooth and voice command technology, and the maxTV app to allow users to watch content on a smartphone or tablet.

maxTV Stream starts at $19.95/month when bundled with SaskTel Internet service ($39.95 per month without) plus $139 for the media box kit, according to the company’s website.

Now available in 11 rural communities plus the infiNET served neighbourhoods of Saskatchewan’s major urban centres, SaskTel said that it will expand maxTV Stream to more than 350 communities by 2020.

“With its cutting-edge technology and impressive set of features, maxTV Stream will completely transform television and entertainment in Saskatchewan,” said SaskTel’s acting president and CEO Doug Burnett, in the news release.  “Plus, by leveraging our expansive broadband network, we’ll be able to deliver maxTV Stream to hundreds of communities, making it more widely available than any other wireline television service in Saskatchewan.”
