TORONTO and SUWANEE, GA – Bell will rely on set-top technology from Arris as it moves forward with its plans to offer a personalized and converged multiscreen service to its Fibe TV and Alt TV subscribers.

Bell said in January that it would use Ericsson's MediaFirst TV platform to offer a lifelike 4K HDR experience.  MediaFirst delivers personalized multiscreen, TV Everywhere, IPTV and Pay TV services, and Arris said that its set-top technology is at the heart of this next-generation system, featuring the latest 4K HDR capabilities, fast 802.11ac and 4×4 Wi-Fi.

"We are proud to be the launch partner for Bell's implementation of MediaFirst for Fibe TV, a fast-growing IPTV service with more than 1.5 million customers in Canada," said Arris CPE president Larry Robinson, in the news release.  "This deployment further demonstrates that Arris is the leading technology provider when it comes to enabling ground-breaking television services."

"Arris is a trusted Bell partner in supporting our delivery of the future of TV," added Bell’s president of residential and small business Rizwan Jamal.  "Fibe TV became Canada's #1 TV service by offering an outstanding viewing experience that's both personalized and on-demand. Together with Arris, we look forward to taking Fibe TV to the next level as we deliver the latest 4K experience to our customers."
