APTN to fund videos of Aboriginal musicians

WINNIPEG – Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is offering to foot the bill to produce a music video for a song featured on a CD for up to five established Canadian Aboriginal musicians or musical groups.

The program dubbed APTN Open Call will provide a maximum of $20,000 toward the music video, which must be filmed in the summer or fall of 2007.

A copy of the soundtrack to which groups want to create a video must be submitted with the application form available at www.aptn.ca/opencall2007.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. CST on June 30.

“APTN is committed to providing Aboriginal artists with the exposure and tools they need to generate interest in their music careers,” said APTN Chief Executive Officer Jean

LaRose. “Through this initiative, APTN is creating a vehicle to showcase the overwhelming musical talent that exists in the Aboriginal recording industry today.”
