APTN lumi original DJ Burnt Bannock to debut in April

WINNIPEG — A new APTN lumi original and Eagle Vision production, DJ Burnt Bannock, will premiere on APTN’s streaming service April 11.

“Through its modified sitcom structure, DJ Burnt Bannock invites audiences to confront tough issues with a smile and sense of humour,” APTN’s website says.

The six-episode comedy drama follows Kevin Cardinal (played by Darcy Waite, above right), a struggling Cree DJ determined to chart his own path, who “must prove to himself and the world that he has what it takes to achieve stardom, but his journey is about to go terribly wrong,” reads a series synopsis.

“With support from his cousin Allan (Paul Rabliauskas, left) and tough love from his Kookum (Joy Keeper), Kevin is ready to take on the world.”

Waite is also the creator and writer of the series, which is executive produced by Eagle Vision’s Lisa Meeches, Kyle Irving and Rebecca Gibson, who is also the showrunner and director. Hannah Johnson and Cynthia Murdock are producers of the series.

The series received funding from Bell Fund’s Short-Form Digital Series program.
