WINNIPEG — APTN’s fall 2018 TV schedule will see some favourite shows returning alongside new original series and documentaries, with the new season scheduled to kick off September 3.

Returning favourites on Canada’s only independent Indigenous network include Longmire, Wentworth and Taken. In season five of Longmire, Sheriff Longmire finds himself caught in the cross-hairs of a wrongful death civil suit. New mysteries and cases are weighing down on the sheriff and his team.

Following Wentworth’s season five jaw-dropping finale, season six picks up the action with almost all of Wentworth’s inmates and officers stunned by the apparent joint escape of Franky Doyle and Joan Ferguson.

The hard-hitting, true crime documentary series Taken is returning for season three. Taken focuses on solving the mysteries behind Canada’s missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Broadcasted in Cree and English, the third season of Taken is being co-broadcasted with the CBC.

A new series premiering on APTN this fall is First Contact, which takes six non-Indigenous Canadians with strong opinions and immerses them into Indigenous Canada for the first time. The participants are tested in extraordinary situations, where their beliefs are confronted and their emotions pushed to the limits.

Another new documentary series coming exclusively to APTN is Future History, which challenges the settler colonial paradigm while celebrating the reclamation and revitalization of Indigenous knowledge.

French-language programming is also set to premiere on APTN this fall. Première Ligne will feature the stories of Indigenous healthcare and first-aid professionals who help their fellow community members in distress. Also airing in French will be the hit documentary series Princesses, defining the standards of beauty within an Indigenous context.

APTN’s fall schedule will also include new Indigenous-language programming. From the North and broadcast in Inuktitut, Nunavummi Mamarijavut is an Arctic adventure culinary series that follows Inuit families and outfitters and showcases how food is an expression of love and a means of sharing their culture. In addition, season three of Moosemeat & Marmalade will air in Cree, and season five of Mohawk Girls will be broadcasted in the Mohawk language.

APTN’s fall 2018 season begins September 3.
