And the first cableco to launch Super Channel is… Access

REGINA – Cable co-op Access Communications is the first cable company in the country to say for sure it’s launching Super Channel, the new national pay television service.

The channels (two in high-def and four in SD) will launch in Regina on November 5, 2007. Access has approximately 80,000 customers in Regina and some other southern Saskatchewan communities and they will be able to get Super Channel for the package price of $16.95/month. Only Regina customers will be able to get the service at launch.

So far, Access and Bell ExpressVu are the only ones to publicly commit to launching, however all major BDUs have the new pay channel on their radar screens.

“It’s a competitive market and we realize we need to be aggressive to maintain our market leadership”, said Rick Fraser, Access’ vice-president, marketing, in the press release.

"We are very pleased to be launching Super Channel with our cable partner Access Communications," added Malcolm Knox, Super Channel president and COO, in the same release. "Their enthusiasm and commitment to providing the highest quality programming to their subscribers is a nice fit with Super Channel’s efforts to give viewers what they want, when they want."

Super Channel is owned by Edmonton-based Allarco Entertainment and was exclusively profiled by Cartt.ca this week.
