VANCOUVER — TV distribution and development company And Now Global has started production on a brand-new, non-verbal series called Pippo, based on the comedic stylings of former Cirque du Soleil clown and performer Pippo Crotti (pictured).

Pippo is a co-production between And Now Global and Italian company Pippo Crotti Productions. Filming is currently underway for the first full season of 12 half-hour episodes, with each episode to be comprised of refreshingly funny comedy shorts, And Now Global said in a news release. Season 1 of the series will be shot primarily on location in Crema and Romanengo City, just outside of Milan and Liguria, Italy.

“It is tremendously rewarding to finally have Pippo come to fruition,” said Eric Y. Lapointe, president of And Now Global, in the news release. “We are focused on building the very best, new, non-verbal comedy, and worldwide fans of slapstick comedy can expect a lot of laughs from the hilarious physical comedy of Pippo Crotti.”

Pippo is directed by Fabrizio Accettulli (Sbirranza, Auntie Disaster) and written by Pippo Crotti and Samuele Zenone (Sbirranza, Auntie Disaster, Girlfriends with Secrets). Original music is to be scored by young Italian composer Paolo Donati.

And Now Global will be taking this series to MIPCOM next month for pre-sales and additional investing partners. The series will be officially launched worldwide in early 2020.
