TORONTO – With the 2014/15 NFL season just around the corner, CTV and the Canadian Marketing Association officially opened the Super Bowl Canadian Ad Challenge (#SB49adchallenge) on Monday.

Announced in June prior to the CTV Upfront presentation, the creative advertising competition seeks to celebrate and elevate Canadian Super Bowl advertising, with the goal of rallying the Canadian industry to create ads that truly compete with the highly anticipated U.S. Super Bowl commercials.

Ad submissions are being accepted now through December 1st here.  The top five ads will be revealed on Bell Media digital platforms on January 15 as well as featured in CTV’s Super Bowl Sunday Pregame Show on February 1, 2015.

The winning ad, as selected by a panel of judges, will be awarded advertising time during CTV’s coverage of Super Bowl XLIX and also receive a trip for two to next year’s Super Bowl in Arizona.

“Since we first announced it, the Super Bowl Canadian Ad Challenge has piqued a tremendous amount of interest from the Canadian advertising industry, and we’re thrilled with the reaction,” said Perry MacDonald, VP of CTV Sales – Bell Media, in the news release. “There’s no better way to demonstrate the deep talent within the Canadian ad community than on the biggest platform on Canadian television.”

“This challenge is a great opportunity for marketers and their agencies to showcase excellent Canadian creativity,” added John Gustavson, president and CEO of the Canadian Marketing Association.

The Super Bowl consistently delivers one of the largest audiences on Canadian television and ranks as the single hottest property for Canadian advertisers, according to the release.  In February 2014, more than half of the country watched some or all of Super Bowl XLVIII on CTV and RDS, making it the most-watched television program of the past two years with a combined television audience of 8 million viewers.
