Amy Bohigian winner of B.C. Knowledge Network’s doc contest

BURNABY, B.C. – Nelson, B.C.-based filmmaker Amy Bohigian of Watershed Productions was selected from almost 30 finalists as the winner of a $30,000 commission in the Knowledge Network’s B.C. History Shorts Competition – Nelson Edition.

Fifteen finalists were chosen from a group of 27 B.C. filmmakers, who had a chance to pitch their best stories about the history of Nelson and the Kootenays during a competition and workshop held in Nelson June 1 and 2. The historical documentaries will be created from still photographs, including archival, historical and even personal photos, centred around the Kootenays region.

Bohigian’s series of short documentaries will be broadcast on Knowledge Network and Knowledge.ca next year. “I feel privileged and proud to be the filmmaker chosen to tell the stories of what makes Nelson and the Kootenays such a unique and special place,” Amy Bohigian said in a release.
