
TORONTO — Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) today unveiled its March schedule, including a lineup of new and returning programs available in described video for the blind and partially sighted community in Canada.
Highlights of AMI’s lineup include coverage of the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics from CBC on AMI-tv and AMI-audio, the 2022 Canadian Blind Hockey Tournament on AMI-audio, and a new culinary series from Mary Mammoliti (above), host of AMI-tv’s Dish with Mary and AMI-audio’s Kitchen Confession podcast, on AMI-tv.
Starting with the Winter Paralympics opening ceremony on Friday, March 4, AMI will air more than 40 hours of Paralympic coverage from CBC on AMI-tv and AMI-audio until the event concludes on Sunday, March 13. “All coverage will be accessible to audience members who are blind or partially sighted with live described video,” reads a press release.
Mammoliti’s new series, Dish with Mary: Destination Dining, premieres Tuesday, March 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET on AMI-tv. In the first episode of this original AMI production, Mammoliti visits St. John’s, Newfoundland, to explore the city’s culture and culinary delights. In the second episode on Tuesday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. ET, she visits Ottawa “to discover some truly authentic cuisine,” the release says.
AMI-audio will broadcast the 2022 Canadian National Blind Hockey Tournament live from the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, starting with the opening ceremonies on Friday, March 25 at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the first-ever women’s blind hockey game.
On Sunday, March 27 starting at 11 a.m. ET, AMI-audio will air the Open Division: Bronze Medal Game, followed by the Open Division: Gold Medal Game at 1 p.m. ET. Members of the AMI-audio team, including Mike Ross, Claire Buchanan, Jeff Ryman, Brock Richardson, Cam Jenkins and ParaSport TV’s Nicco Cardarelli will provide play-by-play and analysis throughout the event.
Other programming to be featured on AMI-tv in March includes: Site Unseen, debuting Wednesday, March 16 at 8:30 p.m. ET; Adaptable Animals, debuting Wednesday, March 23 at 8 p.m. ET; #IGotThis, returning to AMI-tv on Wednesday, March 23 at 8:30 p.m. ET; and DarkVision, debuting Friday, March 25 at 7 p.m. ET.
