Allstream joins Metro Ethernet Forum

TORONTO – Allstream has joined the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), the company said Tuesday during an International Telecoms Week luncheon in Chicago.

MEF is a global industry alliance of more than 195 organizations that develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.

Allstream said that its participation in the forum will allow it to contribute to the development of Ethernet standards, engage with other members and build relationships with other international carriers, as well as help ensure that it is providing the highest levels of service and product to its customers.

"Ethernet is becoming the ubiquitous access choice for Canadian businesses and it is a focus for Allstream, so this was a natural step for us," said president Dean Prevost, in the announcement.  "We have a great interest in participating in the conversation and contributing to industry leadership when it comes to evolving the technology."
