TORONTO – Allstream has signed a three-year contract to provide IP connectivity services to Wind Mobile.
Wind will utilize Allstream's Managed Wavelength service to support its network expansion into southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area, the companies said. Managed Wavelength service provides customers with fast, reliable and secure point-to-point IP connectivity via communication over a dedicated line, reducing the risk of data compromise and mitigating service interruptions.
"Allstream's Managed Wavelength service is one of our many offerings reinforced by a guaranteed level of network performance," said Allstream president Dean Prevost, in the announcement. "As a growing organization, Wind Mobile will benefit from the flexibility and scalability of this service, which runs over our dependable fibre-optic backbone."
"In keeping with our ongoing strategy to enter new markets in Q3 and Q4 of this year, delivery of timelines was of critical importance”, said Maged Bekheit, Wind’s VP of core networks. “Allstream was able to devise well-qualified service schedules for all of our new sites, giving us the confidence we would be able to execute our various launch initiatives in a timely manner."
