Alliance Atlantis releases estimated 2nd quarter broadcasting results

TORONTO – Alliance Atlantis Communications has released preliminary second quarter financial information for its broadcasting business, expected to be used in arranging the financing of the assets’ acquisition by CanWest MediaWorks Inc.

Alliance Atlantis stresses that the revenue estimates are preliminary and have not been reviewed by its auditors.

For the three months ended June 30, 2007, broadcasting revenue from its specialty channels is expected to be approximately $86 million, while the year to date ended June 30 is expected to see broadcasting revenues of about $164 million. Broadcasting revenue for the 12 months ended June 30 is expected to be approximately $319 million.

“Both advertising and subscriber revenues for the (second) quarter are expected to reflect industry leading growth as a result of growth in both audiences and subscribers,” Alliance Atlantis says in a news release.

Under the proposed takeover, CanWest would acquire Alliance Atlantis’ 13 specialty channels while Goldman Sachs would take over the entertainment and motion picture distribution business.
