MONCTON – A total of $12 million will be spent in Greater Moncton by incumbent telco Bell Aliant in order to enhance the capacity of its network and to deliver additional service options, including video-rich applications like Aliant TV.
“This $12 million injection brings Aliant’s total investment in broadband in New Brunswick to $164 million since 2000,” said Claudine Langan, Aliant’s director of consumer marketing. “Our commitment to Moncton and to our customers across New Brunswick is very strong; we’re focused on continually investing to improve the capacity of our network so that we can introduce exciting Internet-based services, like Aliant TV. But that’s just the beginning; this multi-million dollar investment will also help accelerate the development and deployment of more leading-edge IP applications such as video-on-demand, educational tools and other innovative applications for the benefit of all New Brunswickers.”
One of the first advantages of this investment is the launch of Aliant TV. Today customers in Moncton will be able to receive this IP-based digital television service that delivers 240 channels — including over 150 TV channels, 40 commercial free digital music channels and over 50 radio stations from right here in Atlantic Canada.
For as low as $29 per month – for the first twelve months, customers can get Aliant TV, which includes other features like a new electronic picture-in-picture program guide, free time-shifting that allows customers to watch their favourite shows from other time zones, and access to pay-per-view movies and events.
Combined with Aliant’s market support for Bell ExpressVu Satellite Television, Aliant ensured that everyone – no matter where they live – has access to the most advanced entertainment solutions, says the press release.
