Aliant launches new wireless email service

HALIFAX – Aliant is launching a new wireless email and messaging service. The Mobile Suite offers businesses and individuals wireless email and messaging using the Palm and Pocket PC operating systems, in addition to RIM and Windows Mobile.

The service is based on Nokia’s Intellisync product line from Nokia. Mobile Suite uses push technology to send email directly to the device, enabling customers to manage mail, meeting requests, calendar entries, contacts, tasks, and other data. Customers of the telco in Atlantic Canada can also download and view email attachments.

Mobile Suite is hosted by Nokia and is made available to customers via client software that they download from the Internet. It’s used on the Palm Treo 600 and Treo 650 and on the UTStarcom PPC6700 with a Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system. Aliant will offer the PPC6700 this summer.

Aliant customers with the company’s $60 a month unlimited data bundle will get Mobile Suite at no additional charge. Customers who purchase a smaller bundle can get Mobile Suite for an extra $8.99 a month and up.
