Alert FM notification system coming to Canada

ST. LEONARD, QC – Trispec Communications and Global Security Systems have finalized plans to bring the alert and emergency notification system Alert FM to Canada.

Alert FM allows provincial and local officials to send digital information via the radio data system of local FM radio stations, or by text or email so that first responders, schools, businesses, or citizens can receive emergency information in seconds.  Urgent information such as weather warnings, evacuation notices, Amber Alerts, or school closings can be received on fixed or mobile receivers, or on consumer devices such PDAs, cell phones and other devices with a standard FM chip.

The reliability and redundancy of Alert FM’s use of radio data system lies in its use of pre-existing network of towers, which in turn provides overlapping coverage of an area. The towers provide rapid message transmission even when other communication transmissions are disrupted

“Trispec is pleased to introduce the Alert FM system into the Canadian market and plans to offer the same product, services, and support that has made the system a success in the United States,” said Claude Mailhot, director of strategic vendor relations, in the announcement.  “Trispec is committed to the development of the alert and messaging service business in Canada and will provide engineering design, integration and installation, and service to Canadian clients across the country.”

Alert FM is already deployed at the university, state, county and multi-county levels throughout the United States and more than 60 million people have access to the technology.
