MONTREAL – Quebecor has appointed former Cirque du Soleil executive Aldo Giampaolo as the new president and CEO of Quebecor’s Media Entertainment & Sports Group.
With more than 25 years of experience in managing, promoting and producing major local, national and international events, Giampaolo joins Quebecor on July 8. “We are very happy to welcome Aldo Giampaolo to the Quebecor team,” said Quebecor president and CEO Robert Dépatie of the announcement. “Aldo is a seasoned event manager, a leader in the field. His extensive expertise in the management of major events and large venues is recognized worldwide. We are privileged to have the benefit of his experience, which we will draw on for the management of the Québec City Amphitheatre, among other things.”
Giampaolo was vice-president operations of the Montréal Forum from 1986 to 1996, during which period he also served as executive project director of the new Bell Centre for two years. He went on to serve as executive vice-president and general manager from 1995 to 2001. He then founded Gillett Entertainment Group (which became EVENKO in 2010) and was its president from 2001 to 2004.
In 2006, Giampaolo joined the Cirque du Soleil and served in a number of senior positions related to world tours, including executive producer, arena tours division, and vice president, sales and marketing, touring shows.
