AldeaVision to be used in World Cup broadcasts

LAS VEGAS – AldeaVision, a Montreal-based provider of video networking services, will be used by several broadcasters in North and South America to air World Cup games from Germany in June and July.

AldeaVision will provide rights holders in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States with fibre-based services for the live transmission of the soccer games.

"AldeaVision will be implementing and managing dedicated video transport facilities for each of these broadcasters for the entire World Cup period, for live transmissions between their temporary studios in Munich and their main studios in the home countries. AldeaVision expertise in international fibre-based video services and end-to-end management capabilities were key factors in being selected for this high visibility application," said Eddy Barsetti, Vice President Sales and Marketing of AldeaVision. “For this event AldeaVision also will be offering occasional use transmission services from various cities throughout Germany to international destinations worldwide for additional requirements of both rights and non-rights holders.”

AldeaVision has a fibre video network presence in the U.S., Canada (Toronto and Montreal), Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and El Salvador, and will be increasing its footprint for this event to Germany and Colombia.

The announcement was made at the NAB convention in Las Vegas.
