TORONTO – The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) has reached a tentative agreement for the renewal of their National Commercial Agreement (NCA) with advertisers.
The current NCA expired June 30 and ACTRA, the Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA) and the Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA) commenced negotiations in Toronto on June 7, 2017. The NCA covers the engagement of performers in all television, radio and digital commercial production in Canada.
ACTRA Members will now vote to ratify the tentative agreement by online referendum. Voting will commence this week and close on August 4.
“With already one of the best performer Agreements in the world, our goal is always to secure a fair deal with improved working conditions for our hard-working Members,” said ACTRA’s chief negotiator and national executive director Stephen Waddell, in the news release. “In the ever-evolving area of digital content exhibition, we achieved significant improvements for our Members in compensation for performances distributed on New Media platforms.”
