ACTRA National names new research director

TORONTO – The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) has named Cathia Badiere as ACTRA National director, research, effective immediately.

Badiere (pictured) was senior research manager at Ipsos Reid and most recently was senior sector policy advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Growth.  In her new role, she will oversee ACTRA’s collective bargaining, policy and industry research to support the organization’s objective of improving the working lives of Canadian professional performers.

“Cathia’s innovative analytics and research experience will be a great asset for ACTRA”, said national executive director and chief negotiator Stephen Waddell, in Tuesday’s announcement.  “With adaptation to change being critical in today's entertainment environment, and ACTRA’s critical role in shaping the future of our industry, Cathia’s skills and experience will be invaluable to our union.”

ACTRA represents the interests of 23,000 professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.
