ACTRA members allowed to audition for The Second City’s Next Comedy Legend

TORONTO – The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) Toronto has ruled its members can audition for and participate in the new CBC television show, The Second City’s Next Comedy Legend.

“I am very excited that we have been able to include ACTRA members in our search; this makes sure that we are able to see all the available talent in Canada,” said executive producer Andrew Alexander.

Auditions are scheduled for March 24 in Calgary, March 27 in Halifax and April 4 in Toronto.

Produced by Suddenly SeeMore…Productions Inc., the show is an eight-episode talent search series that begins with regional auditions, and then moves on to a finalist stage produced on The Second City stage in Toronto.

Participants will be assisted by Second City mentors and evaluated by celebrity judges as they vie to be Canada’s next comedy legend.

Second City alumni Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty and Elvira Kurt will appear on the show, Second City directing veteran and improvisational guru Mick Napier will be a judge, and recent Second City actors Matt Baram, Paul Bates, Anand Rajaram and Naomi Snieckus will be mentors.
