Quebec’s administrative labour tribunal last week approved an application from the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) for recognition to represent voice directors working in the province in the field of dubbing films into English.
The tribunal found ACTRA is the most representative association of artists in this particular bargaining sector.
“In this case, the evidence shows that ACTRA has among its active members English-language film dubbing set directors who have worked on approximately sixty productions in the last two years. Moreover, no other artists’ association represents set directors in the artistic production sector covered by this application.”
ACTRA is a national union representing more than 30,000 professional performers working in recorded media across the country.
In October 2023, Quebec’s labour tribunal granted ACTRA recognition to represent intimacy coordinators in the English-language film sector in Quebec.
