Access7 celebrates Saskatchewan’s centennial

REGINA – A one-hour special six-months in the making will air across all of Access Communications’ cable systems celebrating the fist 100 years of Saskatchewan.

Gursh Madhur, manager of community programming for the cable co-operative said, “At Access, we take great pride in our involvement in the communities we serve. We wanted to produce this feature as our way of saying thank-you to each community for their support of our co-operative.”

Working with the residents in each community, Access has produced Home Town Pride, which includes a historical look as well as centennial highlights from every community served by the Co-operative. The special – six months in the making – was researched and written by well known Saskatchewan author, Joe Ralko and features interviews and commentary by longtime Saskatchewan broadcaster, Doug Alexander.

“Across the province, people spoke from the heart about what makes their community unique. Home Town Pride is our centennial salute to the people who make this province a great place to call home,” added Madhur.

In addition to this program, a shorter video snapshot featuring each individual community will air within those respective communities throughout the fall and into 2006.

Following the initial broadcast, these unique commemorative Centennial features will also be available for purchase in either DVD or VHS formats.
