REGINA – Access Communications’ community channel Access7 is airing a special telethon Sunday to raise funds in support of victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Airing live from the Access7 studio between 3:00 – 5:00 PM, the telethon will include local musical acts, photography and reports from Lisa Schmidt on the effects of the disaster.   All proceeds raised from the event will go to The Great Commission Foundation to benefit the Lisong Mistasa Relief Fund.

The telethon will be available in Regina and select Access7 communities.  Viewers may donate by calling (306) 205 3663, which will be available during the telethon, and all donations of more than $10 will be eligible for a tax deductible receipt. Outside of the telethon, donations may be made directly to The Great Commission Foundation.

“Many people in Saskatchewan have connections to the Philippines,” said Wade Peterson, community programming manager, in the news release.  “We are proud to be able to bring this fundraising drive to the larger community through Access7, our community channel.”

As Access Communications community channel, Access7 generates thousands of truly local first-run programming hours each year in over 80 communities across Saskatchewan.
