VANCOUVER – BC-based telecom provider ABC Communications is undertaking a major expansion of its wireless broadband service in order to deploy TD-LTE fixed wireless service from Huawei throughout its operating area in British Columbia.
ABC said that is the first company in the province, and one of the first in Canada, to deploy TD-LTE, which is ideally suited to the delivery of Internet, voice and video services. The new network provides a wireless alternative to cable and ADSL for last mile broadband access, reads the company’s press release. Using licensed 3.5 GHz spectrum, the expanded network gives coverage of up to 20 km of linear service range and provides speeds of up to 50 Mbps.
“ABC’s licensed spectrum is the key to our successful LTE deployment,” said president Chris Allen, in the release. “LTE is the leading wireless technology today and we are pleased to work with Huawei Canada to deliver this solution to rural, urban and enterprise customers throughout our market areas.”
With offices in Vancouver, Prince George, Quesnel, 100 Mile House, Kelowna and Penticton, ABC provides Internet, web services, data networks, fibre optic solutions, commercial phone systems and retail cellular products.
