TORONTO – One hundred and fifty delegates will converge on Toronto for the RTNDA Canada 2005 National Conference.
According to the RTNDA Update this week, conference chair Melanie Kurzuk says the three-day event, June 9-11, offers a solid line-up of professional development sessions, including "Enterprise Reporting."
“Original enterprise reporting is a newsroom challenge 365 days of the year. Political enterprise reporting is twice as tough. Getting behind the story, giving the audience a check of the facts, revealing campaign truths locally and nationally can be a challenge. Get advice from the experts,” says the release.
The panelists will be: Murray Brewster, Broadcast News; Mark Kelley, CBC News – The National; Tony Panacci, Supervising Producer – The New VR; Heather Evans, Executive Producer News Gathering – CBC Radio News.
Other speakers and sessions of note include: CRTC Chair Charles Dalfen; Jim McKibbon of Statistics Canada on Diversity; CNN’s Soledad O’Brien (and others) on Tales of the Tsunami; Motivational speaker Bob Nelson on Coaching and Mentoring Staff; and CBS White House Correspondent John Roberts (formerly JD Roberts of MuchMusic, way back in the day).
The Organizing Committee has also planned a one-day session rate of $40 on Saturday, June 11 for reporters and producers. This is an excellent opportunity for those in southwestern Ontario. The day features sessions on enterprise reporting, story structure for radio and TV and legal minefields in covering youth crime.
To register as a full delegate or to register for the one-day rate, go to www.rtndacanada.com.
Also, be sure to indicate if you’re interested in participating in a media tour or taking advantage of the rides across the Toronto skyline in the Global News chopper (with a $25 donation to RTNDF).
