OTTAWA – Beginning Monday, A-Channel will host an online charity auction in support of Sebastien Savage, a University of Moncton student and St. Albert, Ontario native, who suffered a severe spinal fracture leaving him paralyzed from the chest down during a hockey game in October.
It’s the second media fundraiser held for the Savage, as eastern cable company EastLink recently raised $4,000 during a recent hockey broadcast.
The 24-year-old St. Albert, Ontario native played minor hockey with the Cumberland Barons from Minor Atom AA to Bantam when he was drafted by the Mississauga Ice Dogs. During his five years in the OHL Sebastien played with four teams including the Sudbury Wolves in 1999-2000 and the Ottawa 67s in 2000-2001. He enrolled at the University of Moncton as a 22-year-old in the fall of 2003.
A-Channel’s All-Star Auction will feature hockey memorabilia such as an Ottawa Senators Jersey signed by the entire team, a Chicago Blackhawks Jersey signed by Mark Bell, and a game used hockey stick signed by Vancouver Canuck Markus Naslund.
All money raised in the A-Channel All-Star Auction will go directly to Sebastien and his family to help assist with his rehabilitation.
The auction opens at 7 a.m. on Monday, February 6 at www.achannel.ca, and closes on Friday, February 24 at 7 p.m.
