A Canadian Evolution

TORONTO – Cable and telecommunications supplier Evolution Broadband made official its Canadian arm today, led by a familiar pair.

“Brent Smith and I are excited to partner in the development of an in-country source for the Canadian market. We are establishing strategic technology partnerships and using our manufacturing capabilities to customize product solutions for Canadian cable operators. Our goal is to offer innovative hardware solutions that will protect operators’ investments in their customers,” said Sat Gill, Evolution Canada COO (Smith it the CTO).

“With the endless expansion of high-bandwidth and high value services such as HDTV, VOIP and high speed Internet, ‘hardening’ the last hundred yards and reclaiming analog bandwidth is more critical than ever before. Evolution Canada is focused on developing, manufacturing and marketing home distribution drop systems, connectors, cables, passives and actives to provide high quality transport within the home,” reads the press release.

Evolution Canada also offers a cost effective all-digital video solution for independent Canadian cable operators via an open standards DVB platform.

Evolution Canada has partnered with AFL Telecommunications to provide a FTTx solution for the Canadian market. AFL’s product portfolio includes splicers, Noyes test equipment, optical jumpers, node service cables, enclosures, pre-term racks and shelves, NIDs, CWDM and DWDM passive components.

“We are confident that the creation of Evolution Canada will provide the added focus needed to develop innovative solutions specific to Canadian operators,” added John Egan Jr., Evolution Broadband’s president, in the release.
