Bell Media said Thursday that it has a first-look development agreement with production company Bristol Circle Entertainment to produce original content for CTV and Crave.
Television producer Jeff Frost, formerly the president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, heads Bristol Circle, which will focus on developing scripted series for audiences in Canada and around the world.
“Jeff has spent decades identifying exceptional creative talent and developing some of TV’s most compelling stories including Breaking Bad, Outlander, and most recently Pluribus,” Justin Stockman, vice president of Global Content at Bell Media, said in a press release. “By combining Bristol Circle Entertainment’s creative pedigree, and Bell Media’s market-leading platforms, we have a distinctive advantage in creating and delivering high-quality original drama series.”
The press release notes that the agreement “reflects the shared mission to elevate Canadian content, uniting Bell Media’s unparalleled reach and commissioning expertise with Bristol Circle Entertainment’s proven track record of creative excellence and industry influence.”
Bell has had similar agreements with Point Grey Pictures, Lionsgate, PAGEBOY Productions, Tom Green Productions Canada Inc., and most recently with Celeste Parr’s Punctuation Media.
Bell Media has enjoyed some international attention with its hit series Heated Rivalry. It announced its upcoming slate of content for the next broadcasting year, which includes the revival of Big Brother Canada.
