Quebecor Content announced Monday its original crime drama series Detective Surprenant: Murder on the Island has been acquired by CANAL+ Poland for broadcast to Polish audiences.
CANAL+ Poland is home to the largest premium satellite television platforms in Poland, said a Quebecor Content press release.
Beginning in spring 2026, CANAL+ Poland will air the six-episode, one-hour series in its original French with Polish audio or subtitles on the Ale kino+ Channel.
“Partnering with CANAL+ Poland, a leader in bringing premium international content to Polish audiences and one of the most influential platforms and channels within the CANAL+ Group, is a tremendous opportunity,” said Sylvie Langlois, Quebecor Content’s senior director of formats and head of international development, in the press release.
“It’s thrilling to introduce this powerful, made-in-Quebec series to such a vast and passionate audience, alongside the acclaimed dramas that define CANAL+’s reputation,” said Luana Ann Church, Quebecor Content’s vice president of development, acquisitions and distribution.
“Detective Surprenant: Murder on the Island is a gripping, atmospheric crime drama that has already earned strong praise from critics for its storytelling and performances. It draws viewers in with its mystery and keeps them hooked with its emotional depth and distinctive mood,” said Adriana Sławińska, programming director at CANAL+ Poland. “We’re delighted to bring this exceptional series to Poland and share it with our audience on CANAL+ Poland. We’re confident it will resonate with viewers looking for smart, high-quality drama.”
This licensing deal follows the recent launch in Canada of the second installment of the series, Detective Surprenant: The Baron of the Archipelago. As previously announced, Detective Surprenant: Murder on the Island was acquired by Global Series Network for streaming on the Walter Presents platform in the U.K., Ireland, and the U.S. The series was produced by V10 Media in collaboration with Quebecor Content and is distributed worldwide by TVA Distribution.
