Freedom Mobile launches new Total Freedom plans with international roaming included

Freedom Mobile on Tuesday announced it is introducing a refreshed suite of Total Freedom plans offering coast-to-coast coverage across Canada, plus international roaming in 120-plus global destinations included at no additional cost.

“These plans will include monthly recurring Roam Beyond data, expanding the value proposition far beyond Canada-U.S.-Mexico use,” said a Freedom press release. “By embedding international roaming into wireless monthly rate plans, Freedom removes the unpredictability and financial burden typically associated with other international roaming options — a longstanding pain point for consumers.”

The new unlimited talk-and-text Total Freedom plans range in price from $35 per month (after digital discount plus taxes) for 10 GB of data in Canada-U.S.-Mexico and 1 GB of data in Roam Beyond global destinations (which are subject to change), to $80 per month (after digital discount plus taxes) for 250 GB of data in Canada-U.S.-Mexico and 50 GB of data in global destinations. A minimum three-month subscription to Total Freedom plans is required.

“For years, Canadians have faced expensive roaming fees and the constant worry of overages. With the new Total Freedom plans, we’re putting an end to that,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, the parent company of Freedom Mobile. “This is about providing customers more choice, more value, and more freedom. It’s another step forward in our commitment to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of Canadians.”

Freedom Mobile’s introduction of new Total Freedom plans with included international roaming comes as the CRTC continues to monitor the progress of Canada’s largest telecom companies — Bell, Rogers and Telus — in providing more affordable and flexible roaming options to their customers.
