Telus and RingCentral adding AI features to Business Connect cloud-based platform

Telus and RingCentral, a provider of AI-powered business communications solutions, announced Tuesday they are expanding their longtime partnership to bring advanced AI capabilities to the Telus Business Connect cloud-based communication platform.

“Businesses are looking for technology that works as hard as they do,” Katherine Emberly, senior vice president and president of small and medium business at Telus, said in a press release. “By integrating RingCentral’s advanced AI capabilities into Business Connect, we’re giving our customers a competitive edge, elevating every customer interaction while freeing up their teams to focus on growing their business and serving their customers.”

Telus said the new AI capabilities in Business Connect span both customer engagement and employee productivity, addressing the full spectrum of business communications needs without requiring technical expertise.

Available in early 2026, the expanded Telus Business Connect platform will include five AI-powered capabilities:

  • AI Assistant (RingCentral AVA): Provides real-time assistance across interactions, turning each live conversation into action through context-aware guidance, automation, and insights
  • AI Receptionist (RingCentral AIR): An AI phone agent that assesses caller intent, answers common questions with personalized responses, schedules appointments, and transfers calls to the best destination, based upon context and directory
  • AI Insights (RingCentral ACE): Delivers data-driven sentiment analysis to help sales teams improve performance through intelligent coaching
  • AI Chat: Engages customers through real-time website messaging, enabling live support teams to quickly respond to common questions and focus on more complex conversations
  • AI Contact Centre (RingCX): An omnichannel contact centre solution designed to improve customer service across 20-plus digital channels as well as agent performance with AI-powered agent and supervisor assistance

“Together we’re excited to bring the full power of AI to expand upon our more than ten year mission of enabling organizations across Canada to work smarter, respond faster, and turn communications into a true competitive advantage,” said Sandra Krief, senior vice president, global service providers at RingCentral, in a statement. “By integrating RingCentral’s industry-leading voice, contact center and conversational AI across Business Connect, we are transforming everyday interactions into intelligence, efficiency, and exceptional customer experiences.”

Telus’s partnership with RingCentral dates back to the 2015 launch of Telus Business Connect. In 2017, the two companies collaborated on the rollout of Telus Business Connect Mobile. They expanded their partnership in 2021 to help small businesses transition legacy phone systems to the cloud using Business Connect.
