Telus files trademark application for First Frame video podcast

Telus in late September filed a trademark application with the federal government’s Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) for “First Frame,” which is currently the name of a video podcast under Telus’s Storyhive banner that is designed to train and support emerging video content creators.

The First Frame podcast is hosted by Cameron Zinger, director of Telus Local Content and executive in charge of production, and Jennifer Park, manager of Telus Storyhive and community content. The podcast currently consists of 10 episodes offering advice on “building your content creation career.”

In its trademark application, Telus described the goods and services to be covered by the “First Frame” trademark as “Downloadable audio and video recordings; downloadable podcasts; downloadable digital media content being videos, images, and audio; downloadable multimedia podcasts”, as well as “Promotion of the goods and services of others through advertisements on podcasts; business consulting and networking services in the field of media and entertainment”, “Broadcasting and streaming of audio and video content via the internet; transmission of podcasts and digital media content being videos, images and audio” and “Production and distribution of podcasts, videos, and multimedia programs; provision of non-downloadable audio and video content via the internet; educational services, namely providing training, workshops and mentoring in the fields of media, film and digital content creation.”

The application is still awaiting examination by the CIPO.
