Corus Entertainment’s Global News announced Tuesday its political affairs program The West Block will return for its 15th season beginning Sunday, Sept. 14 on Global TV and streaming live on StackTV, with new interim host Ben Mulroney.
Veteran broadcaster Mulroney is taking the hosting seat of the network’s weekly political program while Global News’ Ottawa Bureau Chief Mercedes Stephenson is away on parental leave this season.
Mulroney continues to host Corus’s Talk network’s nationally syndicated weekday radio program The Ben Mulroney Show, which launched in November 2024 and expanded with the addition of a YouTube channel in June. Prior to his time with Corus, Mulroney is best known for his years co-hosting CTV’s Your Morning and Etalk.
Corus said in a press release Mulroney will bring “his distinguished television experience, law background and political expertise to each episode” of The West Block, which “features timely conversations with must-see guests touching on the political and economic issues that matter most to Canadians.”
“The West Block sets the tone, pace and conversation for the week ahead around politics,” Mulroney said in the press release. “I feel privileged to be a part of the team bringing Canadians the number one political show in the country.”
The West Block airs Sundays starting Sept. 14, at 12 p.m. AT, 11 a.m. ET/CT and 10 a.m. MT/PT, with encore broadcasts Sunday nights on Global and StackTV.
