SiriusXM Canada announced Wednesday heavy metal band Metallica will launch a new, year-round music channel exclusively on the platform, starting Friday, Aug. 29 at 12 p.m. ET on Channel 42 and the SiriusXM app.
Called Maximum Metallica, the full-time channel will deliver continued access to Metallica’s expansive catalogue, from mega hits and deep cuts to live shows and behind-the-scenes stories straight from the band, says a SiriusXM press release.
In addition, listeners can expect rare recordings, exclusive interviews and surprises curated by the band members themselves, the release adds.
To celebrate the launch of the new channel, SiriusXM will host a live performance by Metallica on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York. A recording of the full performance will subsequently air on the Maximum Metallica channel, starting on Monday, Sept. 1 at 12 p.m. ET, with rebroadcasts scheduled throughout the week. The show will also be available to stream on demand on the SiriusXM app.
