SaskTel releases 2023/24 sustainability report


SaskTel on Monday released its 2023/24 Sustainability Report highlighting a number of initiatives and best practices implemented at the provincial Crown corporation to drive sustainability, equity and prosperity for Saskatchewan.

Key priorities emphasized in the report include social impact, governance and protection of the environment.

According to this year’s report, SaskTel contributed nearly $3 million to 1,018 non-profit and charitable organizations, community associations, venues, events and partnerships in 237 communities.

The SaskTel Pioneers, a network of current and retired employee volunteers, contributed $211,079 in financial donations and a total of $828,721 in in-kind donations.

In addition, SaskTel TelCare, the corporation’s employee-driven charitable donation program, contributed nearly $180,000 to 42 locally operated charities and non-profits.

SaskTel’s Phones for a Fresh Start program provided 376 cell phones and $7,000 worth of phone cards to people fleeing domestic abuse, while also recycling 7,683 devices in the 2023/24 fiscal year.

During 2023/24, SaskTel invested $368.5 million in capital to deliver improved connectivity to Saskatchewan, including $150.6 million in wireless, $106.4 million in fibre, $64.3 million in network improvements, $30.4 million in digital development and $16.8 million in other wireline investments, according to the report.
